Metriport
Open-Source Platform for Healthcare Data Intelligence
What Metriport does
Metriport provides real-time access to comprehensive medical data for 300M+ individuals across the US. Our open-source intelligence platform helps organizations access, analyze, and exchange patient data while integrating with all major healthcare IT systems. If you’ve been to doctors in the US, you may have encountered the problem: how does a healthcare provider get access to your up-to-date medical history to treat you properly? Reliance on archaic methods is still the norm: typically, you or your provider need to call the facilities where you’ve previously received treatment (assuming you remember them all), just to have them send your records via fax (yep, fax). This can take weeks, only then to have a provider sift through hundreds of pages of unstructured docs, just to figure out basic things like your active medication list, what conditions you may have, latest lab results, etc. This not only delays care—it can cause improper treatment, since the medical history is critical for informing treatment decisions. Metriport integrates fragmented medical data from thousands of sources—including both national and state/regional Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), ADTs, EHRs, pharmacies, and labs—through a single API connector. The platform then standardizes, deduplicates, and enriches this data to create a comprehensive longitudinal patient record, with AI-powered clinical summaries. Along with a rich understanding of patient health history, healthcare providers also get realtime updates about their patients' health through Metriport. This includes getting notified when a patient is discharged from the hospital, picks up their prescription from the pharmacy, or has a new lab result available. Through this data, care teams get insights across their patient population, helping with 30-day readmissions prediction, care gap closure, risk adjustment, and more. On top of all of this, Metriport enables healthcare organizations to share net-new clinical information back to all major healthcare IT systems, and to become interoperable with popular EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, athena, eClinicalWorks, and many more—forming an internet for healthcare data. Metriport improves both patient and provider lives at the point-of-care, supporting use cases such as medication adherence, transitions of care management, chart prep, and much more. If you want to do work that matters, get in touch with us today.

What the role involves
Metriport is an open-source data intelligence platform that helps healthcare organizations access and exchange patient data in real-time. We integrate with all major US healthcare IT systems and tap into comprehensive medical data for 300+ million individuals. We've found product-market fit with multi-million ARR, 100+ customers (including Amazon One Medical, Strive Health, Circle Medical, and Brightside Health), backing from top VCs, and years of runway. We're ready to scale. We're a tight-knit, high-performing team of mostly former founders (including two YC alumni). We're engineering-heavy, operate with minimal bureaucracy and high autonomy, and hire based on competence, not prestige. We push hard—founders work six days a week from our SF office—but give everyone freedom to craft their schedule. We measure output and we're committed to sustainable intensity. About you In a nutshell, we're looking for a “generalist” with the following specific qualities: You’re entrepreneurial-minded, with an olympian-level work ethic. You’re confident in your ability to take sales calls and close customers, but humble enough to start out with more top-of-funnel, SDR-type work in the first few months as you ramp up. You’re an exceptional communicator who can empathize with customers and founders. You pride yourself with your writing skills and high attention to detail. You have enough technical knowledge (ie. you know what an API and SDK is) to be able to sell our product to engineering leaders. You believe you can solve any problem that comes at you, and don't shy away from diving deep into areas where you may lack domain expertise. You have a strong sense of ownership over your work, and have demonstrated ability to lead yourself, and others. What you'll be doing In the first few months, you’ll be working directly with the founders and sales team on improving top-of-funnel. You’ll be a part of GTM discussions with the founders, figuring out strategies to get more meetings booked. As you continue to improve top-of-funnel, you’ll be able to start learning more about our sales process and shadowing sales calls with the sales team. Eventually, you’ll be able to start taking your own meetings and closing contracts, and ultimately growing into a sales leadership role with others reporting to you. During your onboarding, we’ll ramp you up quickly to expert-level domain knowledge in healthcare interoperability and data exchange. Requirements You have 6+ years experience hitting quota as an enterprise AE in SaaS sales. You’re located in San Francisco or the Bay Area (or willing to relocate). Healthcare experience isn't required, but if the following terms mean something to you, that's a plus: FHIR, HIE, IHE, EHR/EMR, NPI, TEFCA, ADT, HL7, HEDIS, RAF, SNOMED, LOINC, ICD-10, etc. Benefits Competitive equity + compensation package 🚀 Full family Platinum health insurance, dental, and vision coverage 🦷 401(k) retirement plan + matching 💰 Flexible work from home or in-office 🏢 Healthy lunches complimentary when in-office (and breakfast + dinners as needed) 🍏 Quarterly company off-sites with the team ⛷️ MacBook provided by us 💻 Unlimited PTO (we work hard, but trust you to take time you need to be at your best) 🧘♂️ Our tech Hubspot, Surfe, Dripify, Nooks, Salesloft, and more.

We push hard—founders work six days a week from our SF office—but give everyone freedom to craft their schedule. We measure output and we're committed to sustainable intensity. The Role This isn’t a standard FP&A role where you sit behind a spreadsheet and wait for instructions. As our first dedicated Finance hire on the BizOps team, you will manage our entire financial stack end-to-end. You will be responsible for the integrity of our books, the efficiency of our revenue collection, the automation of our internal financial operations, and more. If you need "perfect information" to make progress, or if you think any task is "beneath" your background, this is not the right fit. We need a Swiss Army Knife who can lead a board-level financial review in the morning and troubleshoot a HubSpot-to-Stripe sync in the afternoon. What You’ll Own The Financial Stack: End-to-end management of banking, invoicing, bookkeeping, and FP&A. The Close: Own month-end and year-end close, ensuring books are pristine by the 15th of each month. Operations & RevOps: Heavily support the Sales team by driving RevOps efforts and integrating systems (e.g., HubSpot to Stripe, Stripe to QuickBooks). Reporting: Track and improve our collections rate, budget vs. actuals (BVA), and departmental purchase request turnaround. External Relations: Serve as the professional face of Metriport to accountants, investors, vendors, and customers. Requirements Experience: 3+ years in Investment Banking, MBB Consulting, or a high-growth startup (Seed to Series B). Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field. Technical Mastery: Expert-level Excel and Google Sheets skills. Powerpoint skills that can distill complex data into clear narratives. Ambiguity Tolerance: You thrive in fast-paced environments and know how to drive projects to completion without a playbook. Location: Based in San Francisco (or willing to relocate) with a 5-day-a-week in-office presence. The "Metriport" Mindset: Low ego, high ownership. You ask "Why can't this be done in 3 days?" instead of 3 weeks. Bonus Points Automation: Experience automating workflows via Zapier or Python script. Familiarity With Finance Tech: Proficiency with QuickBooks, Brex or Ramp, Stripe, and CRMs. Domain: Experience in the Healthcare IT or Healthtech space. How We Measure Success Are the books closed by the 15th? Is our collections rate exceeding our target threshold? How tight is the delta between our budget and our actuals? Are you reducing the "work about work" by implementing better processes?

The Role As a Solutions Architect at Metriport, you'll be the technical bridge between our production customers and our product – ensuring they continuously can extract maximum value from Metriport's platform while building the kind of trust that makes expansion a natural outcome. This is not a traditional account management role. You’re technically fluent, spot customer needs with ease, and can hop on a call with a customer's team (engineering, clinical, etc.) and immediately earn their respect. This role requires an expert relationships manager. You will pair your deep understanding of Metriport’s product and features with your intimate understanding of our customer’s needs to propose solutions and expansion. Additionally, you’ll be empowered and held accountable for creating and implementing new Customer Success processes, automated monitoring systems, and touch points with customers. In the first few months, you’ll be working closely with our Chief of Staff, Founding Engineer, and Customer Success team to elevate Metriport’s account management efforts. About the role This is the first AI Engineer role at Metriport, and one of the highest-leverage hires we'll make this year. We're looking for an engineer who treats AI agents as leverage — someone who will literally change how we ship products and how we operate. We are building a multi billion dollar company, and you would be instrumental in that. This is a huge opportunity for the right person, someone with owner mentality/high ownership, laser focused, and high energy and determination. If we hire well, every person at Metriport effectively gets a teammate that never sleeps, we leverage new opportunities, and we discover new ways to deliver value. What you'll do Build the autonomous SDLC pipeline that takes tickets through to PRs — Linear as the state machine, Claude Code (or whatever's best at the time) as the execution engine, sandboxed compute, code review, CI feedback loops, the whole loop. Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to integrate AI to our products in ways we haven’t even conceived yet. Build internal agents and copilots that take work off the team's plate: monitoring the platform and preparing fixes, triaging customer issues, drafting responses, generating compliance evidence for compliance audits, summarizing PR activity, on-call assistance — anything where a human is currently doing rote pattern-matching. Design the eval, observability, and guardrail layer for everything you ship. AI systems that touch production code, customer data, or money need to be measurable, debuggable, and safe to roll back. Work directly with founders and team leads to figure out which workflows are highest-leverage to work on next, and ruthlessly prioritize. You won't get a backlog handed to you — you'll go find the work. Keep the platform you build serving a growing company. About you You're entrepreneurial-minded, with an olympian-level work ethic. You measure your output by what you actually unblock, not what you produce. You've shipped real, production-grade systems with LLM agents at the core — not demos, not prototypes. You know what fails in production, and you've got opinions about evals, prompt versioning, tool use, retries, and cost control. You're a strong full-stack engineer first, AI engineer second. You can stand up a service, write the IaC, instrument it, and own it end-to-end. TypeScript / Node.js, Python, AWS, and SQL aren't going to scare you. You think in workflows and systems. You can sit in on a customer support call or a PR review and immediately spot the three steps a model could be doing. You have a strong sense of ownership. When someone scopes a project at 3 weeks, you ask yourself "why can't it be done in 3 days?" You care more about leverage and impact than about which model or framework is en vogue this month. You'll pick the boring tool when boring is right. Bonus: experience with healthcare data, compliance environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, HITRUST), or shipping AI-enabled workflows at an early-stage startup. You’re located in San Francisco or the Bay Area (or willing to relocate). Benefits Competitive equity + compensation package

The Role As Metriport's first Customer Support Engineer, you'll be the frontline technical lifeline for our customers. You are the vital solution layer that sits between a customer’s confusion, highlighted issue, or feedback and our organization. This is not a traditional support role. You debug like a developer, communicate like a customer success pro, and rip through inbound tickets as a puzzle worth solving thoroughly and urgently. You'll sit on the Customer Success team and operate as a critical bridge to other internal teams — triaging issues, escalating thoughtfully, and closing the loop so problems don't repeat. You'll also build the support infrastructure from scratch: the tooling, the automation, the runbooks, and the processes that let Metriport scale support without scaling headcount linearly. In the first few months, you'll work closely with our Customer Success team to triage all inbound customer issues and build a best-in-class support operation. You'll be responsible for: Customer Issue Ownership: Be the first responder on all inbound technical issues. Own resolution end-to-end – from triage to fix to follow-up. Automated Support Infrastructure: Build and maintain Metriport's automated support systems, including ticketing workflows, runbooks, and self-service tooling that deflect repeat issues. Resolution and Engineering Escalation: Reproduce bugs, root cause, and hand off well-documented escalations to the on-call engineering team when needed – minimizing back-and-forth. Product Feedback Loop: Synthesize patterns in customer issues into structured, actionable feedback for the Product team. You're the voice of the customer inside the building – vital considerations within our company direction. Support Documentation: Create and maintain internal and external knowledge bases, FAQs, and integration guides that help customers help themselves. Requirements Experience: 3+ years in a technical support, developer support, or software engineering role with direct exposure to customer-facing issue resolution. Shipped Code & API Familiarity: You've written and deployed production code. You understand what it means to build something that has to work reliably at scale. You've consumed or built/consumed APIs and webhooks. You know exactly where things break. Core Competency: You're obsessed with resolution. High ticket volume doesn't faze you – it motivates you. You prioritize ruthlessly, triage fast, communicate clearly, and never let a customer feel blocked or unsure of status. Problem Solving: You work through ambiguous, multi-constraint problems with sound judgment, thorough investigation, and a written narrative that gets engineering buy-in when escalation is needed. If someone asks you “why”, you have a confident answer backed by sound logic. Collaborative: Can work fluidly across teams and levels of technical fluency, translating technical details to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa without losing clarity and the primary point. Availability: Comfortable with a role that demands availability outside traditional hours, especially as we scale. Our tea

In the first few months, you’ll be working closely with our Chief of Staff, Founding Engineer, and Customer Success team to elevate Metriport’s account management efforts. You’ll be responsible for: Customer Health: Own the north star metric of customer health for customers in production. Driving Value Led Growth: Identify and unlock expansion opportunities organically by ensuring customers are fully utilizing the product and seeing measurable ROI. Revenue growth follows value delivery. Evolving With Customers: Spot which of Metriport’s customers are not using features that could drive significant value for their organizations. Monitor customers’ usage so Metriport can scale with their needs. Building Cadenced Customer Efforts: Build and further check in efforts with Metriport’s customers in production. Requirements Experience: 3+ years working in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Solutions Architect, Solutions Engineer). You’ve also dabbled in formal or informal Technical Sales roles and efforts. Technical Fluency: Comfortable reading API documentation and translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (and vice versa). Core Competency: Expert relationship manager. You pair obsession over the success of accounts with your technical skills and product knowledge to drive as much value as possible for your customers. Problem Solving: Can work through hard problems to figure out solutions with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative. Collaborative: Proven ability to engage with engineering, design, sales, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship. Ambiguity Tolerance: You thrive in fast-paced environments and know how to drive projects to completion without a playbook. Location: Based in San Francisco (or willing to relocate). We have an office the team works 6 days a week out of. The "Metriport" Mindset: Low ego, high ownership. You ask "Why can't this be done in 3 days?" instead of 3 weeks. Bonus Points Domain: Expert-level domain knowledge and experience in Healthcare IT or the Healthtech space, including relevant technical stand
About You You're obsessed with automating repetitive tasks — your first instinct when you see a manual process is "how do I make this run by itself?" At Metriport, you'll own the internal tooling that keeps our company moving fast. You'll spot the friction, build the fix, and ship it — without waiting to be asked. You're entrepreneurial-minded, with the drive to push work forward even when it's not anyone else's top priority. You have strong interpersonal skills and are comfortable working directly with stakeholders across Eng, Ops, and business teams to understand their needs and translate them into working solutions. You're a hacker at heart — you get excited about wiring together services that weren't built to talk to each other, and you know how to make it work securely and at scale. You keep security top of mind. We work with sensitive healthcare data, and you treat that seriously — vetting third-party integrations, applying least-privilege thinking, and never cutting corners that could expose PHI. You follow the AI tooling space closely and try to use it to solve real business problems, but you have the judgment to know what's appropriate for an enterprise context and what's a hard no. You care about outcomes over elegance. A Slack bot that saves the Ops team an hour a day is worth more than a perfect abstraction nobody uses. What You'll Be Doing After ramping up on our internal tools and workflows, you'll own the systems that make our teams more efficient and more secure. Day to day, this looks like: Automating cross functional processes: many of our internal processes are still manual and error prone; you'll work with non-engineering functions at Metriport to automate away their friction within the company Building Automations End-to-End: Designing and shipping integrations between our internal and third-party systems — from scoping the requirement with a stakeholder, to deploying a working solution, to making sure it doesn't break quietly. Improving Developer Experience and Onboarding: Automating local environment setup for new engineers, improving CICD speed, reducing the time-to-productive from hours to minutes. Evaluating and Adopting New Tools: Researching integration platforms (Zapier, n8n, Make, etc.) and AI productivity tools, working with the Security team to assess their security posture, and rolling them out in a way that meets our compliance requirements. Reporting: Automating recurring reports by pulling from AWS Athena, REST APIs, and other data sources — so the team gets accurate data without manual effort every month. Team alignment: Participating in a daily 30-minute remote standup at 7:30 AM PST Mon–Fri (our only regular mandatory meeting). Requirements 3+ years of experience in a software engineering, automation, or internal tools role — ideally at a startup where you wore multiple hats. TypeScript proficiency: Our entire stack is TypeScript. You write clean, maintainable TS without hand-holding. React proficiency: Our internal operations tool is React-based. You can build and extend UI components to surface new workflows. Integration exp

We push hard—founders work six days a week from our SF office—but give everyone freedom to craft their schedule. We measure output and we're committed to sustainable intensity. The Role As a Founding Designer at Metriport, you'll spend your time understanding customer workflows, defining the right solution to those problems, and making sure everything we ship — product, marketing, brand — looks and feels right. The upside is real autonomy: you set the design standard, you own the output, and you're not waiting on anyone else's approval. The tradeoff is that the scope is wide and the bar is high. If that sounds like too much, it probably is. If it sounds like exactly enough, keep reading. At Metriport we think of design like a rough-hewn yet elegant table: does its job, looks right in the room, built to last, and finished. You'll bring that sensibility to everything — knowing when a decision needs more thought and when it needs to ship. We strongly believe in the 80/20 rule, and rely on everyone joining our team to use it so that we can ship fast and continue to delight our users. What You'll Do Build and maintain the design system Establish a coherent design language — components, spacing, typography, color — that is simple and that engineers can build to without hand-holding. Design features end to end Take features from rough concept to detailed spec, working closely with founders, PM, and engineers to ship solutions that are functional and feel considered. Talk to, and advocate for, users Understand their workflows, form an opinionated view on the right solution, and drive toward it. Own brand and marketing design Design across all marketing surfaces — website, sales collateral, event materials. You're the person we turn to when anything needs to look good. Requirements Design instincts: You produce Figma work that is considered and defensible — with clear opinions on typography, hierarchy, and interaction patterns. Pragmatism: You know what to polish and what to ship. You walk the tightrope between craft and speed without falling off either side. Technical literacy: You know enough about how software gets built to write specs engineers can use and have real tradeoff conversations. The "Metriport" Mindset: Low ego, high ownership. You ask "Why can't this be done in 3 days?" instead of 3 weeks. Our tech On the frontend, we use React - on the backend, we rely on Node.js and TypeScript for writing core business logic. We deploy a wide range of AWS cloud services (ie ECS, Fargate, Lambda, etc), and manage our infrastructure as code with AWS CDK. Data lives in PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, Snowflake, HAPI FHIR servers, and more. Metriport provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcome people from all backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and abilities.

About you In a nutshell, we're looking for a Senior Implementation Engineer with the following specific qualities: You’re entrepreneurial-minded, with an olympian-level work ethic (nearly our entire engineering team consists of former founders). You are confident in your ability to connect with customers and building strong partnerships while providing technical guidance You believe you can solve any problem that comes at you, and don't shy away from diving deep into areas where you may lack domain expertise and have a strong sense of ownership over your work. You care more about the end result and delivering value to a customer, rather than what new and frilly tech is being used under the hood for a given feature. When someone scopes out a project with an ETA of 3 weeks, you ask yourself "why can't it be done in 3 days?". You’re a hacker at heart, and have a good sense of what rules should, and shouldn’t, be broken. What you'll be doing After quickly ramping up using our comprehensive onboarding materials to get familiar with our domain, and codebase, the goal would be to get you connected with customers as quickly as possible. Specifically, day to day, this looks like: Lead team performance against KPIs: Implementation NPS, pilot conversion, and user activation and serve as the primary point of contact for the customer throughout the partnership. Conduct discovery calls when a customer is onboarded to understand their use cases, technical requirements, and success criteria. Participate in weekly syncs with onboarding customers to ensure they are deriving value from product and have successfully integrated Metriport into their day-to-day workflows. Maintain the customer relationship after onboarding, through regular check-ins and providing continuous support through communication channels. Troubleshoot and debug customer issues, in some cases working with the engineering team to resolve them. Manage customer requests and issues by assessing priority, coordinating with engineering teams, tracking progress, and communicating resolutions to customers. About You We're looking for a data scientist who thrives in ambiguity and cares as much about getting the fundamentals right as building the next model. At Metriport, you won't be handed a clean dataset and a well-scoped problem — you'll be building the data foundation alongside our engineering team while applying science to some of the messiest, most impactful data in healthcare. You're entrepreneurial-minded, with an olympian-level work ethic. You are obsessed with data integrity. If a metric is off by 1%, it keeps you up at night until you find the root cause. You believe that high-quality clinical data is the bedrock of excellent healthcare, and you're excited to work at the intersection of ML and patient records. You have a strong sense of ownership and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with minimal direction. You care about impact over sophistication. You'd rather ship a logistic regression that changes a workflow than a transformer that lives in a notebook. You're excited to go wide. In a small team, the best data scientist is also a great analyst — and you see that as a feature, not a compromise. You're a hacker at heart, and you're comfortable writing production-grade code to get the job done. What You'll Be Doing After quickly ramping up on our clinical data domain, your goal is to be the person who owns clinical intelligence within Metriport's stack — turning massive volumes of clinical records into predictions, insights, and automated decisions. Day to day, this looks like: Applying AI/ML to Clinical Data: Building and deploying models to predict patient outcomes, identify gaps in care, or surface anomalies across our data warehouse. Normalizing Clinical Data at Scale: Using NLP, LLMs, or rule-based systems to transform messy, unstructured clinical records into structured, searchable, trustworthy data. Owning Analytics When It Matters: You'll share ownership of our analytics stack and data quality alongside the team. When a customer needs an accurate report or the team needs a reliable metric, you're just as accountable as anyone. Productizing Intelligence: Designing and shipping data-science-powered features as core parts of the Metriport platform — not just internal experiments, but things customers use. Building the Data Foundation: Contributing to data modeling, warehouse design, and tooling (dbt, DWHs, PostHog, etc.) as we scale our data infrastructure. Science without solid foundations is noise. Team alignment: Participating in a daily 30-minute remote standup at 7:30 AM PST Mon–Fri (our only regular mandatory meeting). Requirements 4+ years of experience in a data science role, ideally at a high-growth or startup company where you wore multiple hats. SQL mastery: You can write complex, performant queries in your sleep. ML/statistical modeling: Practical experience building and deploying models (classification, regression, clustering, NLP) — not just prototyping. Coding proficiency: Strong in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, and ideally some experience with LLM APIs or frameworks). TypeScript proficiency is a plus — our stack is TypeSc
