ShortLoop
Phone AI that Captures Every Dealership Revenue Opportunity
What ShortLoop does
Dealerships leave significant revenue every year because they are unable to effectively answer calls or run campaigns due to staffing issues. ShortLoop fixes this with human-like AI phone agents that answer calls instantly, book appointments and test drives, and also help run outbound campaigns. It ensures that our customers never miss a revenue opportunity, inbound or outbound. Our AI is integrated with CDK, Reynolds, Tekion, Xtime, Auto/Mate, DealerFX, VinSolutions, myKaarma and other popular dealership tools. It handles thousands of calls each week for U.S. dealerships across service, sales, and outbound campaigns. Our mission is to help dealerships transition their phone operations to the AI world and capture the revenue they leave on the table today.

What the role involves
ShortLoop builds enterprise-grade AI phone agents that deliver human-level clarity in real-time conversations. Our systems run 24/7 for automotive dealerships across the U.S. and India, managing inbound and outbound calls, scheduling service appointments, qualifying leads, and executing workflow automation against dealer systems. We operate with strict latency and reliability requirements. As an engineer here, you will help extend and harden the systems that make this possible. What you’ll be doing You will contribute across the stack with a focus on clean implementation, operational reliability, and rapid iteration. Typical work includes: • Building and improving real-time telephony and conversation-processing services. • Implementing features within our Agentic AI workflow engine. • Working on backend APIs and integrations with dealer management systems. • Contributing to internal tools used by Ops, Design, and Growth. • Participating in code reviews, observability improvements, and deployment workflows. • Collaborating directly with founders and senior engineers to evolve ShortLoop’s architecture. About you • 0 - 3 years in a full-time engineering role or equivalent project experience. • Solid fundamentals in computer science, distributed systems basics, and debugging. • Comfortable working with cloud infrastructure and modern backend frameworks. • Strong initiative - you notice broken things and want to fix them. • Interest in real-time systems, LLM - powered applications, or workflow automation. • Eagerness to learn from senior engineers and take on progressively larger responsibilities. Nice to have • Experience with Python, Node.js, or TypeScript. • Exposure to React or similar frontend frameworks. • Familiarity with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Pinecone or event-driven architectures. • Coursework or project experience in speech/LLM applications, telephony (SIP, WebRTC), or backend performance tuning. Our tech stack Azure, AWS, Python, Node.js, React, MongoDB, ClickHouse.
What the role involves
ShortLoop builds high-reliability AI phone agents that autonomously manage conversations for automotive dealerships. These agents book service appointments, qualify leads, and integrate deeply into dealership workflows - requiring tight SLAs, fault-tolerant systems, and fast, context-aware reasoning. As a software engineer on the team, you will design, scale, and evolve the infrastructure that powers these real-time Agentic AI systems. What you’ll be doing This role is highly cross-functional and involves substantial ownership of system behavior, architecture, and execution. Leading design and implementation of real-time communication and conversation systems. Scaling the infrastructure for our Agentic AI pipelines (LLMs, tools, decision loops). Owning major backend components - from API surfaces to integration layers to data persistence. Architecting cloud-native systems with a focus on resilience, latency, and cost efficiency. Shaping engineering practices, performance monitoring, testing strategy, and deployment processes. Collaborating directly with the founding team to align architecture with product roadmap. Supporting integrations with dealership management software and task automation workflows. About you 3 - 5 years in a full-time engineering role building production systems. Strong experience architecting scalable, secure, and observable cloud applications. Ability to independently scope, design, and execute complex system components. Experience with data infrastructure, event-driven architectures, or distributed systems. Comfortable working in a fast-moving early-stage environment with high autonomy. You take initiative - if something is broken, ambiguous, or inefficient, you drive the fix. Nice to have Experience building from 0 → 1 or working in early-stage teams. Familiarity with LLM-based reasoning systems, speech pipelines, or real-time telephony (SIP, WebRTC). Performance tuning experience - query optimization, caching strategies, concurrent systems. Experience designing internal tools or workflow automation at scale. Our tech stack Azure, AWS, Python, Node.js, React, MongoDB, ClickHouse.
