About the role We're looking for a Product Designer to join our team and reimagine how humans collaborate with AI. You'll be designing the interfaces (no, not just screens) that make collaborating with AI and building AI assistants feel as intuitive as having a conversation with a friend, colleague or employee. This role requires someone who can navigate extreme complexity while maintaining an unwavering focus on delight and the experience for the user. You'll work directly with our engineers to create design patterns that don't exist yet, shaping how millions will build and collaborate with AI. As an early team member, you'll have outsized impact on our product's evolution and help establish design as a core competitive advantage. Heads-up: while we don’t use seniority titles at Wordware, this role is intended for designers with 5+ years of experience who are already operating at a Senior, Staff, or Principal level. What you'll be doing: You'll be designing experiences that bridge the gap between human intent and AI capability, making the complex feel magical. What You'll Do You'll own the frontend of Sauna — shipping interfaces that feel instant, intuitive, and polished even when the underlying work is complex. You'll need to make product and design calls yourself, prototype quickly, and execute without waiting for perfect specs. Sometimes you'll implement designs. Other times you'll create them. Stack TypeScript, React, Tanstack, Zustand, TailwindCSS, IndexedDB, Cloudflare Workers. Who You Are Minimum 4+ years of frontend engineering with a portfolio of complex web apps you've shipped — we want to see multiplayer experiences, apps handling large data with sophisticated fetching and caching, or work with server-sent events (SSE). You love React and deeply understand state management. You know when to useMemo, how callbacks work, the component lifecycle, and you write beautiful, reusable components. You recognise when props are being drilled through multiple layers and should be lifted into context or Zustand instead. You're comfortable owning a feature full-stack. You can do the DB migration, write the route in the backend, fetch on the frontend, and create the UI for it. Product sense and design intuition — you can take a rough product direction, sketch an interaction, and ship something that feels right. You care about performance. You know when to cache, when to refetch stale data, and how to optimistically update the UI. You notice duplicated network requests. You care about the app feeling snappy and responsive. You make design decisions — you'll need to own some UX decisions, create simple designs when needed, and unblock yourself. High autonomy, low ego — you don't wait for permission or perfect specs. You ship, gather feedback, and iterate. You care about craft — details like loading states, empty states, error messages, keyboard shortcuts. The 1000 small decisions that make software feel good. Bonus Experience with multiplayer apps (Y.js, Automerge, CRDTs, or similar real-time collaboration frameworks). Senior Full Stack Engineer (Back-End) What You'll Do You’ll write and ship full-stack features end to end, from the agent runtime and backend APIs, to the web and desktop UI that users interact with every day. We're still ~15 people and shipping to our first paying users. You won't just be building features, you'll be making the decisions that determine whether this system holds at 1000x the current load. You'll work directly with our CTO. Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you might work on: Build and operate the sandbox infrastructure where agents execute code, process isolation, resource limits, secure credential handling across thousands of concurrent sessions. Design the deployment and migration pipeline for a Cloudflare Workers + Fly.io architecture, including blue-green rollouts and canary patterns. Instrument real-time workloads end to end: SSE streaming, task queues, and multi-model LLM provider routing. What You'll Do You've seen what happens when systems hit scale, and you know which parts to rebuild before they break. This isn't a management role. You're the most experienced builder on the team, and the CTO's partner on every architectural decision that matters. Sauna's architecture works today. It won't be optimal at 1000x the current load with 50x the integration surface. You'll make the calls that shape what it becomes. Here are a few examples: Make hard architectural tradeoffs and own the outcome: Durable Object SQLite vs. shared Postgres for session state. Cloudflare Workers CPU limits vs. longer-running workloads. Single-tenant sandboxes vs. multi-tenant pools. You decide, you migrate, you ship. Design the system that handles concurrent agent sessions across integrations, an agent responding to an iMessage, checking Calendar, drafting a Slack reply, and updating Linear, all within one session with consistent state. Define reliability and observability standards for a ~15-person team: SLOs, error budgets, tracing strategy, incident response patterns that actually work at our scale. Review every significant PR. You have recent, hands-on AI/LLM work. You've built agent systems, model routing layers, or tool-use architectures. You understand why tool execution in an agentic loop is fundamentally different from request-response. You're fluent in TypeScript and productive in it on day one. The entire stack is TypeScript. You've left a comfortable role because the work stopped being interesting. You want real ownership and real risk. Bonus (but not required) You have strong opinions on agent runtimes (Durable Objects vs. actors vs. microservices) and deployment strategies for long-running processes. You've worked with Cloudflare Workers at scale. You've contributed to or maintained significant open source projects.
