What the role involves
We are a neuro first company. As a Research Engineer here, you will build AI systems focused on neural data, capable of accomplishing previously impossible tasks. We're seeking individuals with strong engineering skills, including designing, implementing, and enhancing massive-scale distributed machine learning systems, producing bug-free machine learning code, and contributing to the neuroscience underlying algorithmic innovations. Outstanding deep learning achievements increasingly depend on massive-scale systems, requiring engineers comfortable working in large distributed systems. We expect you to have: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or physics. 4+ years of software engineering experience. 4+ years of experience with deep learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, or Julia). Experience working in large distributed systems. Enthusiasm for AI Symbiosis. The above are strict requirements, please do not apply unless you meet them. Nice to have: Master’s or PhD in statistics or a related field. Experience in dense time series and/or other continuous data types. Experience in signal processing. Past experience in creating high-performance implementations of deep learning algorithms. Interest and thoughtful consideration regarding the impacts of AI on cognitive freedom. You do not need to have experience in neuroscience. Compensation We offer competitive cash compensation at around the 60th percentile, supplemented by equity compensation at the highest percentile. Our approach balances immediate salary expectations with significant long-term equity upside. About Piramidal We are building a first-of-its-kind foundation model for electrophysiological brain data. Our goal is to create scaled neural decoders that enable humans to understand and control neural syntax. We are dedicated to redirecting technology to maximize human potential. At the heart of our mission is support for cognitive liberty - the fundamental right to freedom of thought, mental privacy, and self-determination. We champion each individual's right to access, understand, and positively influence their own brain. We firmly oppose commodification of minds and mental experiences. We are committed against any voluntary interference, manipulation, or punitive control over human thought. The brain is a battlefield – join us to build the tools that defend it.
What the role involves
We are looking for a software engineer to help us build Piramidal’s flagship product. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining the system that enables performant web experiences for our users. In this role you will: Design and implement Piramidal’s neural tracking flagship user interface. Implement real time visualisations for high dimensional data streams using websockets and performance oriented charting libraries. Collaborate with product, design, and ML engineering teams to deliver cohesive web experiences. Optimise performance for critical web components, particularly focusing on improving ARS (Application Response Speed). Your background looks something like: 4+ years of practical experience as a frontend engineer. Deep expertise in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React and NextJS (ie, “backend-of-the-frontend” subject matter expertise). Experience optimising web application performance and measuring metrics like ARS. Strong candidates may have: Background in building infrastructure. Familiarity with frontend monitoring and alerting systems. Proficiency with TypeScript and strong typing systems. Experience with frontend performance optimisation techniques on real-time data. A portfolio of high-quality, scalable web applications in production environments. About Us We are building a first-of-its-kind foundation model for electrophysiological brain data. Our goal is to decode neural syntax in order to bridge the gap between biological and artificial intelligence. We are dedicated to redirecting technology to maximise human potential. At the heart of our mission is support for cognitive liberty - the fundamental right to freedom of thought, mental privacy, and self-determination.
