About Oway Oway is solving one of the country’s largest problems - every year, up to 50% of all the truck space in the US goes empty. This has a massive impact on the cost of goods you buy every day and is a $100B problem in the US alone. Oway was created to bring together some of the brightest people in the country to fix this inefficiency by creating the largest decentralized rideshare algorithm for coordinating this empty truck space. We’re using AI, ML, and great design to build a new category of freight shipping that enables businesses to ship freight across the country at up to 50% cheaper than any option available today - with built-in tracking, insurance, and AI-assisted tooling included. We’re looking for the absolute best brokers (who work directly with carriers) and carrier relationship managers — people who’ve spent time at brokerages, 3PLs or company departments that source and develop carrier relationships — to help us scale our national carrier base and lock in recurring lanes. What You'll Do Source and onboard qualified carriers into Oway’s network using our in-house software tools. Manage relationships with fleets ranging from 30 to 1000+ vehicles. Help expand our dynamic freight pool by matching carriers with algorithmically optimized loads and bundling opportunities, and make partial freight more accessible for carriers. Educate carriers on our app-based onboarding, automated load offering, digital BOL/POD, and automated payments systems. Act as a partner to operations, sales, and product as we refine our nationwide carrier network. What We're Looking For 3+ years at a freight brokerage or 3PL in a carrier-facing role (e.g. Carrier Sales Rep, Capacity Rep, Truckload Procurement) Have experience with a clear funnel of onboarding carriers and intuitively working around individual humps and roadblocks without needing heavy guidance. Deep understanding of FTL/partial load dynamics, especially working with midsized fleets (not owner-operators). Strong negotiation and communication skills; able to keep carriers loyal with recurring freight. Knows how to get carriers moving with quick pay, factoring, and incentive strategies. Bonus if you’ve worked with ELD integrations, load boards, or routing platforms.

About This Role At the heart of Oway's platform is Juno, our AI-native coordination engine that automates large-scale supply chain coordination with native edge-case intelligence. As a Senior ML Engineer, you'll own both the systems that power Juno and the underlying data infrastructure that makes them possible. You'll work directly alongside our engineering leads to build, train, and ship the models that determine how freight is priced, routed, and dispatched across thousands of live vehicles nationwide. This is a high-ownership, production-first role. The work you do here directly impacts carrier margins, shipper costs, and the efficiency of America's freight network. What You'll Do Own the development, training, and productionization of the ML systems powering Oway's pricing, routing, and matching engine, including our optimization models. Build and iterate on Juno AI, our autonomous LLM-based dispatch agent, including reinforcement learning workflows, prompt engineering, and edge-case handling in live operations. Design and maintain the data infrastructure and pipelines that feed our ML systems, from ELD telemetry ingestion to feature engineering, model monitoring, and observability. Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and carrier teams to translate real-world freight problems into reliable, scalable ML solutions. Instrument model performance in production using LangFuse and similar tools, and iterate rapidly based on live data. Contribute to ML architecture decisions as an early senior hire with significant ownership. Who You Are 4-7 years of experience in ML engineering with a strong track record of shipping models to production. Proficient in Python, with hands-on experience across the ML stack, from pipeline design to model serving. Experience with tree-based or ensemble methods (e.g. Cubist, XGBoost) and/or LLM fine-tuning and RLHF workflows. About This Role We're a fast-moving team looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to help us build the next generation of Oway's platform. You'll work closely with our engineering leads to build critical infrastructure that powers automated distribution for thousands of businesses, from our shipper-facing app and API to the internal tooling that supports Juno, our AI-native coordination engine. Your work will touch every layer of the product: the instant quoting flows that get businesses a price in 30 seconds, the shipment lifecycle from creation to delivery, and the integrations that connect Oway into enterprise infrastructure via our REST API, SMC3, and Project 44. What You'll Do Own features end-to-end, from concept and design through deployment and monitoring. Work across our stack: Java (Spring) on the backend, TypeScript + React on the frontend, and MongoDB for data. Build and maintain the core shipper and carrier APIs, including quote, shipment, tracking, and invoice endpoints used by businesses ranging from startups to Fortune 500s. Build product surfaces that integrate with Juno's automated dispatch and coordination workflows.
