The Role At Mach9, we're building AI to turn dense LiDAR and image data into design-grade CAD deliverables for civil engineering and surveying. We have one of the richest survey-grade datasets in the world. Our product, Digital Surveyor, automates work that takes surveyors and engineers weeks of manual effort. We're looking for a Head of Machine Learning to build and grow the organization that turns our data into the automated products of the future in surveying and design. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll set the technical vision for our strategy, mentor and grow a team of ML engineers and researchers, and own the throughline from hard research problems to shipped product capabilities. This role is ideal for experienced engineers, team leads, and managers who want to push the frontier of 3D computer vision and perception. You’ll have the opportunity to solve problems that few other teams have the data or the talent to take on. We need you to bring a strong vision of what’s possible with our unique dataset, and then to build a team around you to accomplish that vision. Responsibilities Define and drive a coherent vision for how Mach9 can leverage our data advantage to build the best automation products across surveying and design. The role At Mach9, ML Engineers build the perception models at the core of our AI-enabled CAD system. We build models to extract 3D object and line features from dense LiDAR point clouds and imagery. Our unique data advantage allows us to develop and train cutting edge 3D scene understanding models that serve real surveyors and engineers in the field. This role is both research-driven and product-focused. You'll design and train the models that power our automated extraction pipeline — image and 3D detection and localization — and work end-to-end from research prototype to production feature. You'll partner closely with infrastructure and product teams to take ideas from a paper to deployed capabilities. This role is ideal for early-to-mid-career ML engineers who thrive on end-to-end ownership and are able to move fluidly from dissecting a new architecture paper to shipping the product feature that the resulting ML model backs. The role At Mach9, ML infrastructure engineers build and maintain the systems that power production AI models for civil engineering and surveying. Our ML pipeline spans 10,000+ miles of labeled survey data, image segmentation networks, and 3D prediction models serving real-time inference to surveyors and engineers in the field. This role is ideal for mid-career ML infrastructure engineers with experience building for both training and inference. You'll build training pipelines that handle deep transformer models on hundreds of terabytes of 3D point cloud and image data. You'll also architect our inference infrastructure, delivering both heavy offline detection algorithms and real-time responsive inference that integrates directly with our CAD software. Responsibilities Design and build a centralized system for versioning training data, generated datasets, and model artifacts, with full lineage tracking from raw source data through to trained model outputs.
