What Kombo does
Kombo makes it easy for software companies to offer integrations with HR software. For example, a recruiting company could use our unified API to integrate with the dozens of recruiting systems used by different customers all at once instead of building an integration to each of them.

Senior Product Engineer @Kombo 📍 Berlin (On-site) · Full-time TL;DR Kombo (YC S22) is building a unified API that saves engineering teams, on average, hundreds of hours by needing to integrate only one API instead of 50+. We’re looking for a product-minded full-stack engineer to potentially own one of our existing or new product verticals and to build features for our rapidly growing customer base. This is a Berlin-based onsite role (4+ days/week). About Kombo Kombo is building the unified API for HR, payroll, and recruiting systems. Instead of companies spending months integrating with dozens of different systems, they can integrate once with Kombo and instantly connect to over hundred platforms. We abstract away the complexity of handling different data schemas, authentication methods, and API quirks. Since going through Y Combinator in 2022, we: Raised $30M+ of funding from Y Combinator, Acadian Ventures, 486 and other investors Grew from 0→ $10M+ ARR and hundreds of customers (growth-wise among the ~top-5% of VC-backed startups) Scaled to process data for the equivalent of 10% of Germany's workforce Grew to a team of 50+ team members (pictures!) in 2x offices Kombo is an international company by default. We operate across two main hubs (NYC 🇺🇸 and Berlin 🇩🇪) and work with a globally distributed team representing 20+ nationalities. What You'll Be Working On As a Senior Product Engineer, you’ll take full ownership of major product areas — architecting our product, working closely with customers , and shipping high-impact features end-to-end. Projects you would have worked on in the past: Building and iterating on a ‘filtering’ layer that allows customers to filter the employees being sent to us after discovering that building this in-house is the #1 blocker for their implementation (De)-validating a LLM-based approach to building integrations more efficiently in a few-week PoC Allowing customers to receive real-time data by extending our integration framework & infrastructure to handle millions of webhooks per day Stack: TypeScript (required), Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, GCP, Docker, Prisma. You don’t need to know everything — we value strong fundamentals and learning velocity. The Challenge You're joining at a critical time. We've proven strong product-market fit and our biggest problem is keeping up with customer demand. This means: You'll build features that customers actively request and start using the same day - we often get "when can we have this?" messages within hours of releasing new features Identify and solve problems without bureaucracy — we release 20 + times per day and move fast Operate in a high-growth environment (2–3× per year) that feels like a new company every few months Who We're Looking For We hire entrepreneurial engineers who want to move fast and maintain a high bar for quality. On a high level, we are looking for entrepreneurial people that are at the top-of-their-game. People at Kombo come from Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, CODE etc., 50% are ex-founders themselves and in general have always done hard, impressive things. Specifically for this role, we are looking for the following skills: Expertise in designing B2B Software applications Ideally 5-8+ years of software development experience Proficiency or capacity to learn our tech stack: Node.js, React, Postgres, Prisma, TypeScript Enthusiastic and collaborative work attitude Previous experience leading a team is a plus! Previous founding experience is a plus! This role is perfect for an experienced engineer looking to join a company that has already proven product-market fit but is still in its early days. You are likely a great fit, if: You thrive when you have autonomy, own as many of the details as possible, and project manage your own work You have strong engineering fundamentals, code efficiently, and you know what you're great at and what you're less great at You dislike meetings and would much ra

Hi 👋 I'm Arne, Co-Founder and CPO at Kombo. I'm looking to hire a Technical Product Lead who will report directly to me, and own our new Learning vertical. _ Your challenge is to lead the vertical from the first customers and strong signs of product-market fit to 1M+ ARR in Revenue this year, acting like a founder within a startup. _ I believe that the best products get shipped by small, autonomous teams acting with a lot of ownership and leeway (like an early-stage startup or similar to PostHog, OpenAI, Revolut) with product-minded engineers acting, owning much more of the product lifecycle than typical. This means our PMs can focus on strategy, prioritization, ensuring we build the right things for our customers and overall much more acting like a GM or founder of the product. After 12–24 months in this role, you will have led a full 0 → 1 → scale journey with direct revenue ownership and gain the kind of experience that is a strong launchpad for future founder, CPO, or GM roles. If this sounds like the kind of opportunity and challenge that excites you, I'd love to hear from you. 📱 About Kombo Kombo is building the unified API for ATS, HR, and payroll systems. Instead of companies spending months integrating with dozens of different systems, they can integrate once with Kombo and instantly connect to over 90 platforms. We abstract away the complexity of handling different data schemas, authentication methods, and API quirks. Since going through Y Combinator in 2022, we: Grew from zero revenue to 8+ millions in ARR and hundreds of customers at a pace that puts among the ~top-5% of VC-backed startups Scaled to process data for the equivalent of 20% of Germany's workforce Raised $30M+ of funding from Y Combinator, 468 Capital and other top-tier investors Grew to a team of 55+ working across Berlin and NYC 👀 The Opportunity We launched the new Learning vertical in December and we have experienced an overwhelming positive response (i.e., we went from 0 to 100k ARR in one month) despite limited capacity on the engineering side. This was the most successful launch we had at Kombo so far and we believe it’s feasible to unlock millions of revenue ( =10-20x current revenue ) and deliver a significantly better learning experience to hundreds of thousands of employees this year alone. However, the vertical currently has no long-term product owner making product capacity the limiting factor for scaling the vertical. This is where you come in. 🦉 Your Role As our Learning Product Lead, you'll own the entire LMS integration vertical end-to-end - from strategy to execution. This is a founding PM role with high visibility and direct impact on company growth. Your core responsibilities: Own the Learning vertical strategy : Chart the product roadmap and strategy for all Learning use cases using our API, working closely with our product engineers and prioritising the initiatives we could run Manage all the chaos in a growing vertical: juggle different sales requests, new customer use cases, integration timelines etc. → bring structure into these demands, especially where it’s not a differentiated use of engineering time Become the market expert and drive customer understanding : Attend conferences, run customer interviews, and educate the entire company about recruiting use cases using our API. Ideally, you are as knowledgeable about our customers (e.g., Blinkist, Panopto) and their requirements as a PM working at our customer. Enable the sales and success team: Sometimes, you will do ‘founder-led sales’ - you will jump on a sales call for an important prospect or answer prospect questions (as you will overall be the market expert) Coach and guide engineers during initiatives : Serve as product stakeholder during initiatives, ask ‘stupid questions’ “why can’t we do X?” and coach engineers if they go off-track Recent projects you would have owned: Act as product stakeholder for a bulk course creation initiative: Help the team understand the

You’ll be the technical bridge between our customers and our product / engineering teams. About Kombo Kombo is building the unified API for HR, payroll, and recruiting systems. Instead of companies spending months integrating with dozens of different systems, they can integrate once with Kombo and instantly connect to over 160 platforms. Knowledge Building: Create and maintain internal / external docs and guides based on recurring topics. Helping a customer engineer resolve an OAuth 2.0 connection flow issue. Spotting a commonly misunderstood API parameter and collaborating with Engineering to improve docs or design. Building dashboards or alerts to proactively monitor integration health. Implement smaller new features across the codebase based on your findings Tech you’ll work with: APIs (REST + SOAP + OAuth), Node.js, TypeScript, SQL, GCP (logs & monitoring), and various HRIS / ATS / Payroll systems + Kombo’s own troubleshooting tools. You might be a great fit if you: Have a solid technical background (Software Engineer, Support Engineer, Solutions Engineer, etc.) and enjoy debugging APIs & integrations Can read code (e.g., JavaScript / TypeScript) and understand data flows and logs Communicate clearly and can explain technical concepts to engineers and non-engineers alike Are empathetic and patient — you enjoy helping others solve problems Thrive with autonomy, take initiative,
