This is not a role for someone waiting on inbound leads or an existing playbook. It is for an operator who can generate pipeline from a standing start, design and test repeatable GTM motions, open the most discerning accounts in financial services, professional services, and government, and close them. Reporting to the VP of Sales, you will own the full sales cycle end to end, from first conversation to signed contract, selling sovereign intelligence infrastructure into institutions where the cost of being wrong is measured in regulatory exposure, market consequence, and national security. The right person is exceptionally skilled commercially and technical enough to be a thought leader in AI: someone who can hold the room with a CTO, a CISO, or a Chief Data Officer, then translate that credibility into revenue. This is a foundational hire. The pipeline you build, the motions you prove out, the messaging you sharpen, and the accounts you land will set the template for how Capitol sells as the team grows. You will work closely with the VP of Sales, CEO and CTO, product, and engineering, and you will help shape a culture that is mission-focused and values openness, collaboration, and respect. What You Will Do Own the full enterprise sales cycle. Prospect, qualify, run discovery, lead technical demonstrations, navigate procurement and security review, negotiate, and close. You are accountable for pipeline and bookings from the first touch to the signature. Win in three high-stakes verticals. Build and execute account plans across financial services, professional services, and government, prioritizing the institutions where sovereignty, auditability, and control are non-negotiable. Be the technical voice in the room. Lead conversations with senior technical and business buyers such as CTOs, CISOs, Chief Data Officers, heads of AI, partners, and agency leadership. Speak fluently about secure on-premises and air-gapped deployment, model-agnostic architecture, governed agentic workflows, and the difference between generic AI and decision-grade infrastructure. Build pipeline and prove the GTM motions. Generate qualified pipeline through outbound, partnerships, and targeted account work. Design, test, and refine the prospecting and sales motions that the team will scale, with the VP of Sales, as Capitol grows. Document what works, kill what does not, and feed insight back to product and marketing. Carry Capitol's voice in the market. Represent the company publicly as a credible thought leader on sovereign AI: at conferences, in customer briefings, and in written and spoken commentary. Shape how the most critical institutions think about the future of enterprise AI. Partner across the company. We're looking for a Software Engineer, Infrastructure to build the systems that power Capitol's platform — from cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes operations to CI/CD, observability, and internal tooling. You'll make a huge impact as part of a small team and have meaningful influence over how we scale and secure our infrastructure as we grow. This is a high-ownership role. You'll be solving real problems across multi-tenant and single tenant environments serving enterprise and government clients. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and compliant cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code. Build and evolve CI/CD pipelines that improve developer velocity without sacrificing quality. Operate and improve Kubernetes-based systems, ensuring reliability across development and production environments. Drive observability — defining metrics, building dashboards, and making system health visible and actionable. Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and postmortems. Contribute to compliance efforts (SOC 2 and beyond), translating controls into infrastructure reality. Build internal tooling and automation that makes engineers more productive. Collaborate proactively across teams, surfacing issues before they become blockers. You May Be a Good Fit If You Have 7+ years building and operating production infrastructure. Have led complex, cross-functional infrastructure projects end to end. Take ownership — you drive things to completion without waiting to be asked. Communicate clearly and proactively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Are fluent in Python, Go, Rust, or similar. Have deep knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, OpenTelemetry, and at least one major cloud (GCP, Azure, or preferably AWS). Are experienced with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar). Have worked with security or compliance frameworks (SOC 2, FedRAMP, ISO 27001, or similar). Have enterprise software experience — you understand the constraints, expectations, and deployment patterns that come with large organizational clients. Have operated data or AI infrastructure at scale — experience running and supporting systems like Ray, Spark, or Temporal in production, where reliability and throughput directly impact model training or inference workloads.  Strong Candidates May Also Have Experience in early-stage startups or hyper-growth environments. Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS architecture, data isolation, and GitOps patterns. Government or regulated industry experience. Contributions to open source infrastructure projects.

The platform deploys entirely within customer-controlled environments, transforming proprietary data into auditable, repeatable, decision-grade artifacts with no data egress and full traceability. We are expanding across the United Kingdom. Our clients span central government departments, City financial institutions, and global professional services firms: environments where precision, discretion, and institutional trust are the baseline, not the benchmark. This Forward Deployed Engineer role is the technical and strategic presence at the point of deployment. You are the person who makes Capitol's infrastructure work inside some of the most demanding and consequential environments in the country. THE ROLE You will own the full deployment lifecycle: from technical integration and workflow configuration through stakeholder enablement and ongoing production support. You will work directly with analysts, compliance teams, procurement leads, and senior executives across UK government agencies, financial institutions, and professional services firms. Some client environments will involve classified or sensitive data handling, and you will be expected to operate with the appropriate levels of rigour and discretion. RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with enterprise clients to understand their data landscape, business objectives, and technical constraints, translating institutional requirements into governed, production-grade AI deployments. Design and deploy agentic AI applications that integrate Capitol's core platform into customer systems and mission-critical workflows, including secure and restricted environments. Build connectors, data pipelines, and custom integrations that enable proprietary data to flow securely and efficiently within customer-controlled infrastructure. Prototype and deliver new use cases leveraging large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and multi-agent orchestration, configured to institutional standards. Serve as a trusted technical advisor across pilots, integrations, and scaled production deployments, navigating complex stakeholder environments with composure and credibility. Collaborate with Capitol's product and engineering teams to surface frontline client insights that shape roadmap priorities and implementation frameworks. Contribute to reusable implementation playbooks, documentation, and best practices that accelerate deployment across UK and EU client accounts. QUALIFICATIONS 3 to 7+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or applied ML, ideally in a customer-facing, consulting, or deployment capacity. Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or equivalent; hands-on experience with APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and data processing pipelines. Direct experience deploying AI technologies including LLMs, RAG architectures, embeddings, and vector databases within complex enterprise environments. Demonstrable ability to work directly with enterprise clients, including C-suite, technical leads, and procurement or compliance stakeholders. Comfortable operating autonomously in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where the deployment playbook is still being written. Familiarity with regulated or sensitive data environments in financial services, public sector, or defence, and the governance requirements that accompany them. Based in the United Kingdom, with willingness to travel to client sites across the UK and, where required, the EU. SECURITY CLEARANCE SC or DV clearance is a meaningful advantage, particularly for UK government and defence-facing deployments, and will determine the scope of environments you are eligible to support.
