They have previously built software companies, and have worked at firms such as Bain & Company, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. About You Canary Technologies is looking for a Software Engineer. Please do consider the responsibilities outlined below as the floor, not the ceiling for this position. At a fast-growing startup, there’s always more to do and ways to expand your impact on the Company. On a day to day basis, you'll collaborate with a team of engineers and managers to create web-based applications used by our hotel customers around the world. You will take part in regular code reviews, design and implement various components, participate in product meetings. You will be building new applications from scratch, as well as supporting and improving existing ones. Being one of our early hires, your work will have a direct impact on product architecture, customer satisfaction, and company success. REQUIREMENTS Responsibilities Write clean, self-documenting code that follows best practices and design patterns Collaborate with business users, managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems Provide creative ideas to improve our product and technology Think beyond the specifics of.a ticket in order to delight customers or grow the business Be a self-starter that can, at times, take initiative and execute on projects with little direction Experience & Skills Required Expert in Python with knowledge on at least one industry standard framework like Django, Flask, etc. Solid knowledge of standard web technology Being able to balance velocity and technical debt Drive for continuous personal and organizational improvement Self-motivated, collaborative, and diligent work ethic Bonus Points JavaScript experience beyond jQuery. Experience using cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). Experience with Docker. Database design skills. As the lead Product Designer on the team, you will be responsible for the full life cycle of design. You will be responsible for defining the user experience of our products. This includes user research and analysis as well as turning that analysis into designs and products. Ultimately you will own the end-to-end design from research, UX flows and journeys, design systems, to high-fidelity mocks and prototypes. This is a unique opportunity to make an outsized impact across a product suite that is used by thousands of premium customers. This role is for builders and doers and not for folks that only want to manage. While we have some freelance help at the moment, you will start off as the sole product designer. There will be a clear pathway to a design leadership position as we see this design function growing headcount late 2021 and 2022. Responsibilities Research. Talk to customers, dig into data, and unearth insights to help inform design and product decisions Analyze. Analyze user and other data sources to generate user journeys, define personas, and create product hypothesis Design. Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, diagrams, and other artifacts to inform and guide the development of the Canary Technologies products. Collaborate. Work directly with cross-functional product teams, incorporating decisions, feedback, and tradeoffs into the design. Iterate. Be comfortable working in an agile, iterative environment and know how to help work towards the ideal design in incremental steps. Communicate. Vocalize opinions internally and clearly communicate work product and the rest of the organization to build alignment and bring folks along on the design journey. Take Initiative: Take initiative where you see gaps and help build design thinking and design processes at a fast scaling product company Requirements 4+ Years experience in a product design role developing web experiences Experience in B2B (SaaS preferred) Experience with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, Invision, Miro, Mural, and other similar design tools Experience building and contributing to design systems/style guides Experience with interaction and UI design and the development of mocks/comps BA/BS or relevant work experience Comprehensive portfolio of work product
