About the Role As a Senior Platform Engineer at Saturn, you own the backend architecture and infrastructure that the entire product runs on. You make architectural decisions that affect every service, set the technical standard for reliability and correctness, and build the foundation for Saturn's next phase of scale. You are a backend engineer with deep fundamentals who builds the systems that everything else depends on. You design and own core financial services infrastructure: data pipelines, integrations with back-office and adviser platforms, and the reliable, secure services that underpin Saturn's compliance and workflow engine. You think in systems, obsess over correctness and reliability, and are energised by the challenge of building infrastructure that has to be right every time. At the senior level, you drive architectural decisions, mentor other engineers on backend best practices, and ensure Saturn's platform can scale to support a custody product and international expansion. What You Will Do Design, build, and maintain scalable backend infrastructure in Go and TypeScript. Make architectural decisions that serve the platform for years. Own reliability, performance, and observability of Saturn's core services: data ingestion pipelines, AI/LLM infrastructure, compliance automation engines, and user-facing APIs. Build highly reliable, fault-tolerant services that handle sensitive financial data with the correctness and auditability that a regulated environment demands. Manage and scale Saturn's AI infrastructure: LLM API integrations, ML pipelines, prompt management systems, and the proprietary compliance rule engine from our ATEB acquisition. Integrate with third-party financial platforms, back-office systems, and data providers, building robust, well-tested connectors that form Saturn's system of record. Drive architectural decisions as Saturn scales across the UK market and prepares for custody platform requirements: data integrity, audit trails, compliance infrastructure, and security. Own the quality of your work. Write well-tested code. There is no QA team. You are responsible for what you ship. Mentor other engineers on backend architecture, system design, and operational best practices. Maintain strong documentation and champion operational excellence across the engineering culture. You own features end-to-end, from suitability report generation to LOA automation to compliance workflows, and you care as much about the user experience as you do about the code behind it. You will work closely with Design, Product, and our embedded domain experts (chartered compliance officers and paraplanners) to build AI-powered experiences that are both technically excellent and deeply useful. You’ll work closely with our partnerships and product team, leveraging data and automations to turn high-level goals into trusted, scalable systems. As a Product Manager at Saturn, you own one or more product areas end-to-end. You run discovery with financial advisers, decide what gets built, write specs that engineers can execute independently, and ensure every feature ships at the quality bar our enterprise clients expect. You care as much about why we build something as how it works. You will work closely with Product Engineers who own features end-to-end across frontend, backend, and AI. There is no handoff chain. You define the what and why, they build the whole thing. That means your specs need to be clear, your prioritisation defensible, and your judgment trusted. Product management at Saturn moves fast. That pace is something we protect deliberately, because we believe the best PMs do their best work when they can see the impact of what they ship. What You Will Do Own the roadmap for your product area end-to-end. Maintain a rolling 3-6 month view. The next 5 initiatives are clearly defined, the next 5 are shaped, beyond that is directional. Run independent discovery with financial advisers and paraplanners. Synthesise conversations into patterns, distinguish signal from noise, and translate adviser pain into product direction. Write specs that Product Engineers can build from independently. No ambiguity, no hand-waving. You define the what and why with enough clarity that one engineer ships the whole feature. Prioritise ruthlessly across features, bugs, and quality. Say no with clear rationale. Defend your roadmap under pressure. Own user acceptance testing personally.
