What Slice does
Founded in 2016, Slice is a neobank. The unicorn offers full-stack digital banking services such as bank accounts, card offers, short-term loans, UPI payments and bill payment services. Initially launched as a short-term lending platform providing prepaid debit cards, Slice expanded its offerings over time to evolve into a full-fledged neobank. The fintech is in talks with North East Small Finance Bank to merge, for which they have received approval from the RBI, enabling Slice with access to lower-cost capital and direct control over its lending operations. With a revenue of Rs 410.86 Cr in FY23, Slice competes with companies including Jupiter and Fi.Money.
Who runs it
Funding and finances
Why this matters to you: funding stage is a rough proxy for how long the runway is and how much structure to expect. It is not a promise, and a profitable bootstrapped company can be the safer bet.
