What the role involves

About the Company: Capi helps businesses in Africa pay their international suppliers. We’ve raised over $18m from Creandum, Y Combinator, General Catalyst, Firstminute, Janngo, Kima Ventures, and some great angels from Revolut, Checkout, Stripe, Onfido, and Remitly. Capi was founded by Mitch Riley, Scott Liddle, and Tom Watson. Mitch and Scott were COO/CFO/GC and CRO/CMO at Taptap Send, a remittance unicorn, and have spent two decades between them working in emerging markets. Tom is a third-time founder having founded Hubble and P4SD. Role Overview Partnerships & Launch expands the frontier of what’s possible for Capi. We grow the company’s addressable market by unlocking new countries, segments, and business lines. We secure strategic partnerships and turn them into live products and real revenue. We don’t just explore what’s next — we launch it. As a Launcher, you’ll operationalize Capi’s expansion efforts. You’ll roll up your sleeves to figure out how things really work — from onboarding a new banking partner to setting up the first customer flows in a new country. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to unblock edge cases, document playbooks, and ensure every new launch is built to scale. You’ll typically partner with the Partnerships & Launch Manager for major launches, but will also own smaller market entries or product expansions end-to-end. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in messy environments, learns fast, and brings structure to ambiguity. You’ll spend time on the ground in-market, talk directly to users, and build resilient systems that serve real businesses. Key Responsibilities Identify and validate new opportunities Spot opportunities for value creation — new markets, customer segments, use cases, or payout flows Conduct TAM sizing, regulatory and ecosystem research, and develop entry strategies Build business cases and present clear, data-backed recommendations to leadership Turn ideas into real-world launches Support or lead efforts to secure strategic partnerships, negotiate terms, and design the initial solution Travel to get smart quickly about a market, meet partners, talk to users, and pressure-test assumptions Project manage day-to-day execution, coordinating cross-functionally with Ops, Product, Commercial, and Compliance teams Track performance post-launch, experiment to refine, and handoff Requirements 3-5 years in high-ownership, analytical roles (e.g., prior launch roles, consulting, startup ops/strategy, or fintech business/product roles) A strong communicator who can quickly build trust with senior stakeholders and external partners Comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data — and proactive in finding scrappy ways to gather insights when data is limited Experience project managing complex cross-functional workstreams Willing to travel frequently for in-market validation and launch execution Based in London or Paris Nice to Haves Fluent in French or Mandarin Prior experience in emerging markets Familiarity with international payments, FX, or banking Additional Information This is a full-time position with competitive salary, share options, and benefits This role requires a minimum of 3 days a week in the office, and can be up to two days working from home Ideal start date: June 2025 (we are aware that a notice period may need to be fulfilled and can adjust accordingly) Capi is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds.
