What the role involves
GovDash helps businesses win and deliver government contracts that advance American interests. Our AI platform is a single, secure, workflow-driven system for the full contracting lifecycle, from opportunity discovery and capture through proposal execution, award, and post-award operations. In 2025 alone, GovDash customers won more than $5B in government contracts. We’ve raised $42M to move faster on product and scale GovDash nationwide. The Role We're hiring our first in-house recruiter to own talent acquisition at GovDash. This isn't a role where you'll slot into an existing process, you'll build the function from scratch. That means selecting and implementing an ATS, defining how we source and evaluate candidates, establishing the metrics we track, and creating a candidate experience we're proud of. The majority of your work (~90%) will be sourcing and closing software engineering roles. You'll also support a handful of business hires (~10%), such as SDRs and operations roles. You'll report directly to the Head of Operations and partner closely with hiring managers, our CTO, and Head of Engineering. If you're energized by ownership, thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, and want to leave a real mark on how a company grows, this role is for you. What You'll Do Own full-cycle recruiting for software engineering roles end-to-end, from intake to offer, along with occasional non-engineering business hires. Build the recruiting foundation: select and implement an ATS, establish sourcing strategies, define workflows, and set the baseline for how we hire. Develop and track core recruiting metrics: time to fill, pipeline conversion, source quality, offer acceptance rate, and more. Cultivate a strong engineering network, attend meetups, engage in developer communities, and build genuine relationships in NYC's engineering scene and beyond to stay ahead of passive talent. Source proactively and creatively, LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, referrals, events, and outreach, to build deep pipelines for competitive engineering roles. Leverage AI tools and automation to accelerate sourcing, outreach, and pipeline management - from AI-assisted candidate research and personalized outreach sequences to automating repetitive recruiting workflows so you can spend more time on the work that actually moves candidates forward. Partner with hiring managers to write clear job descriptions, define scorecards, and calibrate on what "great" looks like for each role. Deliver a candidate experience that reflects GovDash's culture and values at every touchpoint. Maintain clean, accurate pipeline data so leadership always has visibility into hiring health. You Might Thrive Here If You Want to own something, not just execute on it. Care about building systems that scale, not just filling seats. Are excited about the intersection of AI, government, and national impact. What We're Looking For 3–5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with meaningful time spent closing software engineering roles in a competitive market. An existing engineering network and genuine comfort running in technical circles, you know how engineers think, where they gather, and how to earn their interest. Demonstrated experience sourcing passive engineering candidates creatively, beyond just LinkedIn. Experience with recruiting infrastructure: ATS selection, pipeline stages, intake processes, and hiring metrics. Comfortable operating without a playbook and excited to write one. Curiosity about and working knowledge of AI-powered recruiting tools - you don’t wait to be told to try something new, you’re already experimenting. Strong communicator who builds trust quickly with both candidates and hiring managers. Highly organized, data-informed, and proactive about flagging risks and gaps in the pipeline. Based in New York City, able to work in-person 4 days per week at our Union Square office. Nice to Have Prior experience in startups as an early or sole recruiter and/or as a
