About Andromeda

We are on a mission to end the shortage of high skill health workers. We are building a “sous-chef“ for surgery that takes on all the monotonous surgical tasks from the surgeon that results in faster and more consistent surgical care. We went from a back of napkin idea to rolling our robot in an operating room for a live surgery in 18 months. We are a small team on an incredible mission of bringing the cutting edge developments in robotics and autonomy into the operating room.

About the Role

We’re looking for a creative and multidisciplinary User Interface Designer with a passion for building engaging, real-time applications that blend game design, robotics, and front-end development. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, designing intuitive experiences, and working across visual and technical domains.

You’ll develop interfaces and tools that combine robotics control or simulation, interactive 2D/3D visualizations, and web/mobile UI for use in surgical devices. Your work will help lower the barrier to entry for surgeons desiring to offer complicated procedures to patients in need around the world.

What You’ll Do

Build interactive front-end applications for robotics control, real-time feedback visualization, and simulation.

Design and implement intuitive robotic control methods tailored for touchscreen devices

Design and implement 3D visualizations using frameworks or tools like Three.js, Unity, Unreal Engine, Babylon.js.

Collaborate with the team across hardware and software development to integrate sensor data, control systems, and user input/feedback.

Develop responsive and performant web-based interfaces using TypeScript and frameworks such as React or Lit, and native mobile apps using React-Native, Ionic, or SwiftUI.

Rapidly prototype and iterate on tools that combine elements of gaming, robotics, and front-end development.

Ensure end-to-end accessibility, performance, and usability across our products.

Work as part of a diverse, interdisciplinary team focused on innovation and user-centered design.

What You Bring

Hands-on experience in game development or interactive 3D applications (Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar).

Strong knowledge of TypeScript and modern front-end development (e.g., React, Vue, Lit, Web Components, HTML/CSS).

Familiarity with 2D/3D rendering libraries or game engines (e.g., Three.js, Babylon.js, Godot, Pixi.js).

Understanding of real-time systems, data streams, or WebSockets.

A collaborative mindset and comfort working with multidisciplinary teams.

Strong design instincts and attention to user experience.

Ability to work independently and contribute to team-driven goals.

Bonus Skills (Nice to have)

Conducting user interviews

Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or related tools (Gazebo, RViz, etc.).

Familiarity with physics engines (PhysX, Bullet, Box2D).

3D modeling experience.

Knowledge of mobile platforms (e.g., React Native, Flutter).

Experience designing for accessibility and inclusive interfaces.

About Andromeda Surgical

We're building autonomous robots to make surgery safe, easier and more efficient. Robots currently perform about 1/4 of surgeries but only help with the physical aspects. We use AI to make surgery cognitively easier. This has far greater potential to improve outcomes and reduce costs. Founded by 3x founders from medtech and autonomous vehicles, we're on track to be the fastest surgical robot to market of all time. First indication is prostate enucleation.
