What the role involves

We are hiring a Senior AI Engineer to help build the core systems behind The Hog, an AI-native platform that automates growth, prospecting, and revenue generation for B2B companies.

This is a senior, hands-on role. You will design and build production-grade AI systems end to end, work directly with customers, and own large parts of the technical surface area. You should enjoy ambiguous problems, heavy systems work, and talking to users as much as writing code.

This role is ideal for someone who wants real ownership, high impact, and proximity to customers without the title baggage.

What you will do

Design and build AI-driven systems that run continuously in production

Own backend and full-stack features from idea to deployment

Build and maintain reliable async systems (jobs, queues, workflows, retries, failure handling)

Work directly with customers to understand problems, debug issues, and ship improvements quickly

Design clean service boundaries and APIs across a growing system

Help set technical direction, patterns, and quality bars as the team scales

Operate and improve production systems (observability, reliability, performance)

What we are looking for

Available for full-time hours

Be able to work during PST (Pacific Time Zone)

Strong systems engineer with deep backend experience

Comfortable across the stack (Node, TypeScript, Next.js)

Customer-obsessed and opinionated about developer and user experience

Enjoys ambiguity and building from first principles

Able to reason about scale, failure modes, and long-running processes

Communicates clearly with both engineers and customers

Experience

At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience

Experience shipping and owning production systems end to end

Experience working closely with customers is a big plus

Startup experience is a plus but not required

Technical background (you should have strong experience in at least one of these)

Distributed job / workflow systems such as Temporal, Trigger.dev, DBOS, or Airflow

Queuing systems such as BullMQ or similar

Heavy async systems, background processing, retries, idempotency

Service-oriented or event-driven architectures

CI/CD and production operations

LLM-powered systems and AI-driven products

Tech stack (today)

TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js

Queues, workflows, and background workers

Postgres and modern data tooling

LLMs and AI agents in production

Why this role

You will work on real systems used by real customers

You will have outsized ownership and influence on the product

You will help define how AI-native companies are built

Small team, high trust, high bar

If you are a senior engineer who enjoys building heavy systems, talking to customers, and owning real outcomes, we would love to talk.

About The Hog

One API to search, enrich, and monitor the web. An agent is only as good as the data it runs on. Most agents and GTM tools today are stuck pulling stale, fragmented data from a dozen different providers, which caps how good their output can ever be. We unify all of it behind one API. One credit-based API covers people data, company data, web search, deep research, news, social signals, and web scraping. Multi-provider waterfall logic routes each call to the best source and falls back automatically, so you get one integration and one bill instead of stitching together Clay, Apollo, Exa, Tavily, and a handful of others. We're building the data layer that agents and GTM teams plug into to find, understand, and reach their customers.
