🏗️ About the role
We are looking for super-talented infrastructure/SRE engineers to help us build and secure the backbone of our products extremely fast. You’ll be joining the most lean, talent-dense, and fast-moving engineering team in London.
You’ll be responsible for:
Owning our cloud infrastructure. Design and maintain our AWS environment using Terraform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Multi-region deployment and tenancy. Build infrastructure patterns that let us spin up fully isolated environments across different regions and support single-tenant customers.
Creating and improving CI/CD pipelines. Enable the team to ship safely and quickly using GitHub Actions, Docker, and modern deployment strategies.
Observability and reliability. Instrument metrics, logs, and traces with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and Grafana to detect and resolve issues before users do.
Optimising for performance. Tune autoscaling, network routing, and load balancing to handle AI workloads with low latency and high throughput.
Infrastructure excellence. Drive best practices in monitoring, deployment, fault tolerance, and incident management.
Collaboration. Work closely with application engineers to make sure our infrastructure supports rapid iteration and reliable scaling.
👋 Who you’ll work with
Sanj (Chief Research Officer and co-founder): Sanj did his MSci in Physics at the University of Cambridge and his PhD in AI at the Gatsby Unit, UCL. He won awards at top AI conferences, worked on the R&D team at Huawei, and received widespread attention for his contributions to open-source LLM GitHub projects. He joined Magic Carpet AI as employee #4, where he developed AI strategies for trading which deployed millions of capital before being acquired by Blockchain.com.
Chris (Chief Executive Officer and co-founder): Chris did his undergrad at Imperial College, masters at the University of Cambridge, and PhD at UCL, during which he published 10+ publications and won awards in top AI conferences and journals. He has worked in leading tech organisations, including Dyson, The Alan Turing Institute, and InstaDeep before its acquisition by BioNTech.
Angus (Chief Technology Officer and co-founder): Angus did an MEng in Computer Science at the University of Bristol where he won a cyber security scholarship at GCHQ before working at Qualcomm. He then joined a London-based hedge fund, Coremont (Brevan Howard). There, he led a small team to build a greenfield trade processing platform which scaled to millions of trades per day.
You’ll also work with the rest of our super talented team of AI researchers, software engineers, patent attorneys, and go-to-market experts.
🛠️ What you bring
As our founding infrastructure & security engineer, you will have extensive experience building software to solve impressively difficult problems through past projects, designs, or GitHub contributions.
Must haves
- 5+ years owning cloud infrastructure at scale (AWS preferred).
- Expert with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
- Proven track record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, autoscaling, and load balancing.
- Solid understanding of security best practices (IAM, networking, incident response).
Preferred haves
- Experience with ECS or container orchestration.
- Experience with distributed task queues / worker systems (Celery, Sidekiq, Resque, SQS, etc.).
- Familiarity with observability stacks (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry).
- Strong Python skills.
