Software Engineer
at Opusense AI — AI for Field Inspection Reports
What the role involves
About Opusense
Opusense is building the AI operating system for field work.
Every day, millions of engineers, inspectors, consultants, and operators collect information in the field that ultimately drives critical decisions about buildings, infrastructure, and assets. Yet much of that knowledge remains trapped in photos, voice notes, PDFs, spreadsheets, and manually written reports.
We're changing that.
Opusense uses AI to transform unstructured field information into structured knowledge, professional documentation, actionable insights, and automated workflows. Our platform is already helping organizations across construction, engineering, trades, and property management dramatically reduce administrative work while improving the quality and consistency of their outputs.
We're still at the beginning of what we believe is a massive opportunity. Documentation is only the first step. Our vision is to build AI systems that understand projects, learn from organizational knowledge, surface insights across thousands of reports, and become an intelligent partner for every field team.
You'll work directly with the founders, own major technical decisions, ship products used by real customers, and help define both the architecture and culture of the engineering organization. The systems you build won't be incremental improvements, they'll fundamentally change how technical professionals capture, use, and act on information.
What You'll Do
Build across the whole product: web, mobile, backend, and the AI that ties it together
Own features end-to-end: speak directly with users, ship prototypes fast, and refine them into what customers rely on every day
Help set the technical direction and standards as one of the first engineers on the team
Turn messy, real-world field data into clear, useful reports and insights
Move between problems quickly — wherever the biggest impact is that week
What We're Looking For
4+ years software experience with strong TypeScript/JavaScript and Python
Experience building on LLMs and agent frameworks
Strong with React/Next.js
Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
0 to 1 builder that has built something people used/paid for (founder/startup)
Bonus Points
AEC related experience or proven interest in AEC industry
DOCX/PDF automation experience (templating engines, OpenXML, or similar)
Tech Stack
We work across AI, full-stack web/mobile, and cloud infrastructure:
Next.js + React Native (Expo) + Tailwind
TypeScript & Python backends on AWS Lambda
Multimodal AI agents + RAG
Relational databases with vector search
Automated document generation (Word / Excel / PDF)
Event-driven and scheduled data pipelines
If you like AI agents, turning messy field data into polished reports, or building tools that construction crews and engineers actually use in the field, this is your place.
What they ask for
About Opusense AI
Opusense AI automates field report writing for construction field inspectors. Instead of typing up notes at the end of the day, inspectors can now walk a site, speak observations aloud, snap photos, and let our AI assistant generate a detailed, organized report on-site and in real time. Combined, the founding team has over 15 years in the construction industry. Writing up these field reports used to take up at least 20% of the week. With Opusense, we cut that time by 5x. Our team combines deep construction experience with technical expertise, Roya has a PhD in civil engineering, and Michael has worked at multiple construction tech startups. Why hasn’t this been done before? Construction is slow to adopt new tech, and reporting is messy, photos, voice notes, and field notes all live in silos. Turning that into a clear, structured report requires real insight into how inspectors work and what clients need. Only now, with advances in AI, can we process unstructured data adequately to generate high-quality reports in real time. The opportunity is massive. Every inspection firm and contractor is struggling with documentation. Manual reports slow them down, create inconsistencies, and delay handoffs. We believe AI can do this better, and Opusense is proving it.
