You’ll be joining a very small, fast-moving team with roots in Zurich and San Francisco. This is an opportunity to work directly with the founders and contribute to a product used at scale by cutting-edge AI teams.

Your Role

At Manufact, you won’t just “do tasks”. You’ll help build core infrastructure for AI agents.

This is a hands-on engineering internship where you will primarily work on backend systems, while also contributing to DevOps and parts of the frontend as needed.

You’ll ship real features used by developers building AI products, and see your work in production quickly.

What You Will Do

Build core backend systems

Develop and improve backend services using TypeScript

Work on APIs, SDKs, and infrastructure powering MCP servers and apps

Help design systems that are scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly

Contribute to DevOps and infrastructure

Assist in deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure

Improve developer workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and testing systems

Help ensure reliability and performance of the platform

Work on testing and developer tooling

Use Playwright to build end-to-end tests and improve product reliability

Contribute to tools that developers use to build and debug MCP apps

Touch frontend when needed

Support simple frontend features or internal tools

Help improve developer experience across the product

Ship fast and iterate

Work closely with the founders to prioritize and deliver features

Take ownership of projects from idea to production

Iterate quickly based on real user feedback

What Success Looks Like

You’ve shipped features that are actively used by developers

Backend systems you worked on are stable, scalable, and easy to use

Testing coverage and reliability have improved through your contributions

You’ve taken ownership of projects and delivered them end-to-end

You’ve learned how to operate in a fast-paced startup environment

Who You Are

You are studying Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)

You have solid programming skills, ideally in TypeScript or similar languages

You are comfortable working on backend systems

You are curious about DevOps, infrastructure, and distributed systems

You enjoy building and shipping real products, not just prototypes

You take ownership and like moving fast

Bonus

  • Experience with Playwright or automated testing
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Interest in AI, LLMs, or developer tools
